The Institute on Transport and Logistics work in a close relationship with the players holders of planning and implementation of policies on transport and logistics, particularly the Emilia Romagna Region and local bodies.
ITL is the link between the action of the local authority and the private companies.
The purpose that ITL will pursue are:
- Promotion of innovation processes both technological and organizational, in the regional transport and logistics sector through research, data collection, ‘best practice’ and dissemination of content;
- Improved planning processes through monitoring and data collection (regional observatory) and a continuous connection between the emerging needs in the territory and public policies being defined
- Development and promotion of research activities, information, training and territorial coordination with forum dedicated, to support public policies.
- Increased ability to attract sources of funding for research and training activities that enable the achievement of a critical mass to make synergies and greater efficiency in the use of resources.
- Spreading a "culture logistics" both in transport and in production, through the promotion of training initiatives;
- Promotion of regional logistics infrastructure through territorial marketing initiatives aimed to attracting new business on Emilia-Romagna’s territory;
- Development of techniques and tools for planning regional transport, in particular : creation of databases, observers of freight and and surveys on expectations of operators.
- Support Emilia Romagna Region for the formulation of guidelines and proposals for the regulatory acts, plans and programmes in the field of logistics;
- Support to Provinces and Municipalities for the definition of local projects aimed at the development and rationalization of logistics, develop specific measures of mobility’s organisation, define of urban integrated projects and appropriate infrastructure solutions.
ITL intends to develop its activieties on the territory in the following areas:
- Regional & City Logistics;
- Training new logistics professionals;
- Intermodality and infrastructures for transport and logistics in local, regional, national and European contest;
- Innovation processes both technological and organizational for the supply chain;
- Security and sustainability in the transport of goods ;
- Territorial marketing to promote the logistics regional service;
