It's
the Main Office of the Foundation, from a
geographical point of view and from a
legal point of view.
Bologna and its metropolitan area are placed at the
core of trades of Italian production.
In general we can say that this feature of crossroads is made possible by the particular geographical position which, while putting it on the edge of the southern Po Valley, raises almost as a point of passage required, at the centre of communication routes connecting the North with Southern Italy :
- by the "Adriatic" director that from Turin, Milan and Venice arrive until Puglia Region (more important in traffic than the "Tyrrhenian" director, from Genoa to Rome)
- by the so-called "Apennine ridge" to Florence and Rome
These two lines crossing Bologna, generating a very busy intersection of roads, highways and railway lines.
Bologna is home to one of the most important
Interporti in Italy.
